ASV Chapter 48: Shen Feixiao

When Qin Kaiyi found Shen Feixiao’s body–oh actually, when he confirmed where the body was, he was slightly startled.

He saw that Shen Feixiao was lying prone in a reed bush beside the river. From a distance, he looked like a dead body that had already begun to swell. Qin Kaiyi had already changed his clothes and given his greetings to Yan Gu. When he saw this scene, he hurried over and dragged Shen Feixiao to the shore. As he did this, he saw the Sky South Bamboo at Shen Feixiao’s waist, somehow not lost, and wrapped it in cloth before placing it into his own arms. 

After dragging Shen Feixiao ashore, Qin Kaiyi carefully checked Shen Feixiao’s physical condition, and then let go of his worries. Apart from a broken arm, Shen Feixiao did not suffer any other external trauma. Qin Kaiyi used a wooden board to set Shen Feixiao’s arm, and then changed him into clean clothes. He also started a fire beside him. 

In the novel, Shen Feixiao was definitely not rescued by Qin Shi… he woke up himself, and he treated his own wounds casually. After a few days, he encountered disciples (T/N: 传人 can also mean descendants) of the God’s Medicine Valley among the cliffs and was completely cured. This would be his first encounter with Su Liuli, the eldest daughter of the Valley Master.

Ah, this must be the law that dictates that the protagonist won’t die after falling off a cliff. In fact, if he was not kicked by the sable, Qin Kaiyi would not think to follow Shen Feixiao to the bottom of these cliffs. He knew that Shen Feixiao definitely would not die… it was clear that there was a formation in these cliffs that restricted the use of spiritual power, so for many people, God’s  Medicine Valley was a place to enter but never leave. Of course, Shen Feixiao was not included among those many people. 

When night fell, Qin Kaiyi went to the river to catch a few fish to eat. But when he grilled those fish, he found that there was something not quite right about the still unconscious Shen Feixiao–his face was too red.

Looking at Shen Feixiao’s abnormally red face, Qin Kaiyi stretched out his hand and touched his forehead. Only then did he feel shocked… This bear child was actually feverish! There was no such development in the original book.

Seeing this, Qin Kaiyi hurriedly took out the medicine from his ring and stuffed it directly into Shen Feixiao’s mouth.

“… This is unscientific.” Looking at Shen Feixiao’s feverishly dazed appearance, Qin Kaiyi’s face went blue one moment and then white the next. He couldn’t imagine what would happen if the sable did not kick him down. The fevered Shen Feixiao obviously didn’t have the ability to save himself, if he really just laid here like this…

After a moment of fear in the heart, Qin Kaiyi–the incarnation of a wet nurse–pulled Shen Feixiao, who was still a little thin, into his arms.  He then found some clothes in his ring and covered him.

“Wu.” Shen Feixiao’s cheeks became bright red because of his fever, lessening his usual chilling coldness. He had more of that cuteness particular to young people. Though Qin Kaiyi wasn’t very interested in Shen Feixiao’s personality, seeing such a fragile appearance, he couldn’t feel dislike.

“Ah… Yan Gu.” Qin Kaiyi moaned painfully: “If he dies of illness like this, what will I do?”

“… Qin Shi, you have a pit in your head.” Yan Gu was obviously becoming evermore disinterested in Qin Kaiyi: “You kicked him down with one foot, and now you are worried that he is not dead? My God… can you tell me what you actually want to do?”

“I…” Qin Kaiyi was speechless. Only after thinking for a long time did he come up with an excuse: “I’m training him!”

“Did you know that there is a river under the cliff? Did you know there are no rocks in the river? Did you know that Shen Feixiao would fall into deep enough water instead of the riverbank, did you know that Shen Feixiao would not drown in the river?” This succession of questions made Qin Kaiyi instantly speechless. Yan Gu sneered: “Don’t say that you planned this all out.”

In the novel, Shen Feixiao faced a trend of constant humiliation and became strong, and in this world now… Shen Feixiao had one additional reason to be anxious for quick success. 

“It seems to be to avenge you.” Yan Gu hit the nail on the head, and didn’t care about seeing Qin Kaiyi’s ugly expression: “Haha, this counts as obeying your wishes?”

With this thought in mind, Qin Kaiyi did not delay anymore. He ate the grilled fish in a few bites, then wrapped Shen Feixiao tightly with his clothes and carried him on his back.

“Where are you going?” Yan Gu looked at Qin Kaiyi’s movements doubtfully, and didn’t understand what he wanted to do.

“What’s below the cliff is called God’s Medicine Valley, you must have heard of it.” Thinking that he had no reason to hide this from Yan Gu, Qin Kaiyi said very straightforwardly: “God’s Medicine Valley’s Valley Master… must have a way to cure Shen Feixiao. “

“Why? How come I don’t know?” Yan Gu’s expression became even more shocked.

“You don’t need to know…” Qin Kaiyi shrugged. If he didn’t set up God’s Medicine Valley like this, in the novel Shen Feixiao might die at the bottom of the valley… what follow-up developments could there be then?

But the most important thing now was to find the location of the God’s Medicine Valley. Studying other matters later rather than earlier wouldn’t have much of an effect… But the question was, where was God’s Medicine Valley?

Carrying a feverish Shen Feixiao, Qin Kaiyi looked at the unfamiliar scenery around him and was at a loss. He seriously considered it for a while, then decided to search in the direction of the river’s downstream. After all, in the novel Shen Feixiao also walked along this river to bump into Su Liuli, who was playing by the shore. Although the timing wasn’t quite right, he had no other options.

With this in mind, Qin Kaiyi decided to set off that night.

The road by the river channel was really not easy to walk, and spiritual power could not be used in God’s Medicine Valley. Qin Kaiyi walked on the bumpy road until the horizon emitted golden light, only then realizing that it was already daybreak.

He glanced at the sky for a few moments and was about to continue walking, when he suddenly heard a faint sound from Shen Feixiao who was on his back. 

“Shen Feixiao? Are you awake?” Qin Kaiyi asked with surprise. He squatted down quickly to put Shen Feixiao on the ground: “Feixiao?”

“En…” Shen Feixiao opened his eyes slightly, and his face was still an abnormal bright red: “Am I… dead?”

“No.” The corners of Qin Kaiyi’s mouth twitched. “How are you feeling now, where are you uncomfortable?”

“You…” The moment Shen Feixiao saw Qin Kaiyi, his black eyes suddenly overflowed with sparkling and translucent tears. He suddenly stretched out his hands and hugged Qin Kaiyi, who was squatting in front of him, hard. His tone was mournful to the extreme: “Don’t leave me alone, don’t go, don’t die!”

Qin Kaiyi’s heart seemed to overturn a five-flavor bottle (T/N: five flavors are sweet, sour, bitter, hot, and salty. So he feels all of this). He looked for a while at the incredibly fragile Shen Feixiao, and stretched out a hand to pat his back gently, appeasing this young man who emitted so much despair: “I won’t go, don’t be afraid, I won’t go. ”

Qin Kaiyi, who was facing away from Shen Feixiao’s face, didn’t see it. At the moment when he said he would not go, Shen Feixiao’s black eyes overflowed with rich purple. That purple seemed like an illusion, and in the next second disappeared without a trace.

“I will remember… every sentence you have said.” After speaking these words, Shen Feixiao fainted again.
